I have spend many joyful hours photographing Joan Dye Gussow's garden in Piermont, NY. Joan is one of the grandmothers of the Local Foods and Farms movement. She was a member of the National Organic Standards Board and the Chair of the Nutrition Education department at Columbia University for many years. At 84 years old, she still grows all her own vegies and many of her own fruits. She digs rocks out of her garden, weeds loyaly and keeps learning and teaching. I probably have the...
